Hello Michael,

I cannot remember when I proposed this fix, but in the meantime the API 
has slighlty changed (the REQUIRE_SYMBOL() macro). Therefore, I'm not 
sure that this code is still "compilable".

Concerning the "intrusion", I will have a look.
