I think what you are asking for is:

HTTPDisk: Block
NFSDisk: Block

I had a quick, read-only HTTPDisk hack for gPXE some time ago.  More
recently, Michael Brown and I had talked a bit about it and were
wondering about write support might be best implemented...

Why can't this be done with NFS or HTTP boot?  I mean I *really* like
this idea of avoiding the memdisk/grub booting of ISO images but it
would be nice to not have it limited to these formats?  Perhaps
something like

sanboot http://....
sanboot nfs://...
