another recommendations ..

NEVER let a board with write permissions to guests, it soon will become
plenty of spam due spambots (i know by myself)
ALWAYS put a captcha to post messages, due same reason
always do account activation via mail, this way users are forced to manually
read their mail, and it is easier to track your users tough


for date() function error, take a look of this:

when you pass to 'production' state, you may config php error output to not
display in webpages but writes to a log file
