Are you booting via iSCSI?
What does your embedded script look like?
What do you see during most of those 5 minutes wait time?

If you are using iSCSI and booting windows, then this could be the "known"
gateway issue, but it could also be lots of other things and it is near to
impossible to guess. so more information is needed.
