The sanboot option will help reduce the script size. I still need a way to
assign a static address via a grub provided script.

Depending on exactly how your process works, you may or may not be
interested
to know that iPXE allows you to HTTP-boot directly from an ISO image.  For
example:

 sanboot http://boot.ipxe.org/freedos/fdfullcd.iso
