You can try creating a dual-driver ROM.  For example:

  make bin/8086100f--ath9k.rom

would give you a ROM with support for e1000 and ath9k, with the ROM PCI IDs 
set to 8086:100f (which needs to match the NIC that actually holds the ROM).
