<p>I've had a chat with mcb30, and figured out why this patch has been<br>
lingering non-merged.</p>

<p>The igbvf driver this was based on, was using the old Intel driver as a<br>
base.  The igbvf should be rewritten to work on top of the new intel.c<br>
driver, and ixgbevf should be implemented on top of the new intelx.c, which<br>
is almost identical to intel.c.</p>
