Ah, wasn't aware of that, because all I was getting is "v1.0.0+"

Seems to be caused by rom-o-matic copying the "src" directory to a 
temporary directory under /tmp before building.
The .git information is not in "src" but a level higher, and therefore 
does not get copied.
